Nearly 2,800 people expressed interest in being accepted as students.

    Scientists from the Gdańsk University of Technology are working on new compounds blocking the activity of enzymes that play a key role in the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus replication process. 'The potential new drug could be used in the early stage of the disease and prevent its development to a severe form', says the leader of the team from the Gdańsk University of Technology, Professor Sebastian Demkowicz.

    Great interest of scientists from Ukraine in Polish Academy of Sciences' offer of support

    In just a few days, the Polish Academy of Sciences distributed PLN 750,000 to support researchers from Ukraine to be employed in PAS institutes. Soon the Polish Academy of Sciences will launch a similar programme together with its American counterpart. Its budget will amount to a maximum of $750,000.

    Prof. Carsten Carlberg, a world-class biochemist in the area of research on vitamin D, has been nominated for the position of ERA Chair holder in the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research PAS. As a part of WELCOME2 H2020 grant he will lead the creation of an interdisciplinary Centre of Excellence exploiting the tools of nutrigenomics to assess the impact of nutrition on the (epi)genetic predisposition to diet-related diseases.

The geometric patterns, lines and zigzags that accompany the images of dancers (danzantes) carved in the rocks of the Peruvian Toro Muerto are not snakes or lightning bolts, but a record of songs - suggest Polish scientists who analyse rock art from 2,000 years ago.
